Jae created the Survivors Exhibit to bring light to these inspiring individuals who have a significantly different perspective than those more recently diagnosed. When these survivors received their diagnosis, they were told they were going to die. They suffered the loss of many friends and lovers, endured treatment regimens with difficult side effects, were exposed to significant social stigma and forced to adapt to the political climate that changed extensively over the years.
Since then, myriad strides in medical care were made, enabling many HIV victims to live life to the fullest regardless of this devastating disease, while others died due to the experimental nature of treatments prescribed in earlier years. |
The Survivors Exhibit is a beautiful celebration of these incredible individuals. Currently in its third year, the Survivors Exhibit shows in cities throughout Southern California, at venues including churches and the University of California, San Diego, among others. Jae's ultimate goal is to garner national exposure for this compelling series and its message.
