Jae's incredible flair for visual art and a talent for putting his clients at ease sets him apart from other photographers. His enthusiasm for photography emerged at age 10, when his father gave him an old school 35mm camera. Jae and his camera quickly became inseparable, and a lifelong passion was born.
After 18 years as a flight paramedic, Jae was burned out and considering a career change. When he received a new camera for his birthday, his passion for photography was immediately reignited – it was one of the best gifts he ever received. He immersed himself in college photography classes and attended professional workshops to hone his technical skills and cultivate his inherent artistry. Before long, a new career was born.
Jae soon launched his photography business, which has grown steadily since its inception. At times, he works together with another photographer on big projects, such as photography for large advertising firms, but he has quickly developed his own wide-ranging client base. In the last five years, Jae has developed an extensive portfolio, including portraits for high profile executives and models, weddings, elements for corporate identity packages, high-profile celebrity events, and unique projects such as photographing real time surgeries. His success as a photographer stems from his ability to capture beauty in places that may not be obvious to others. “I love to take something that others think is ordinary or not so pretty, and make it compelling,” says Jae. His medical background instilled him with the ability to thrive in high-pressure environments – an important skill when shooting weddings and special events. “When I was a paramedic, there was always a lot of chaos,” says Jae. “Photography enables me to take chaos, enjoy it and create beauty out of it.”Jae's natural ability to work with people is essential to his successful portraiture work. He strives to learn all that he can about his clients, so that they are more comfortable when working together. “It's really about capturing the client's personality,” he says. “I love the challenge of helping people relax so they can enjoy themselves. As a result, together we are able to create amazing images.” |
